The nights are drawing in, and the extraordinary year that is 2020 continues to provide everyone with challenges. We hope everyone stays safe.
We have been the lucky owners of Little Thatch since 2001. More custodians, as any who are familiar with looking after a listed property will be aware. We have done our best to maintain the character and fabric of the cottage over the years, whilst keeping it well suited to family use. This included a full re-thatch early on, as well as a new ridge more recently.
Our now-young-adults were very small when we first got it, and have always loved heading down there for holidays, to visit relatives on the Island or run around Blackgang Chine, as well as enjoying many, many trips to the local pub over the past 20 years!
As a “caulkhead”, I have always enjoyed showing friends around “my homeland”. There are some truly beautiful views, some stunning beaches and of course many very fine pubs and restaurants to enjoy.
We are now managing Little Thatch ourselves, having used ‘agents’ in the past, and hope to welcome many people to enjoy the cottage and indeed, the Isle of Wight.
Oh yes….& why the dodo logo? Well, we had a magical time taking our family to Mauritius, home to the now-gone bird, to get married many years ago. It felt like a lucky charm!
